Florida Consumer/Survivor/Ex-patient Organizations

Bluebird Consultants "Bluebird" has developed a wide array of innovative programs, inlcuding the development of comfort rooms that are designed as a preventive tool that may help to reduce conflict and potential use of seclusion and restraint. Dialogues, role plays, creative arts and "appropriate touching" are some of the creative approaches she discusses with information on how to implement their use.
Consumer Support Services, Inc. They operate two drop in centers offering case management, group therapy and peer support. They are a non profit mental health service corporation in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Office of Consumer Affairs  coordinates activities and advocates for persons in the community who are consumer / survivors of the mental health system. Serving all consumers / survivors in District 10 (Broward County) who are in programs, hospitals, or in the community. It also works with the State of Florida Department of Children & Families funded agencies that are consumer-run self-help programs.

PEER Center is a community drop-in center for those individuals who have a history of mental illness.  It is a unique setting, offering a respite from the pressure and expectations of day-to-day living.
