An Abstract of CONTAC
An Introduction and Literature Review
The proposed project will be comprised of employees, specialized groups and advisory councils that consists of approximately 90% consumers.
Project Approach/Technical Assistance
Four levels of organizational technical assistance are envisioned
Experience has indicated that a strong emphasis on electronic technology is the key to future collaborative efforts
The identification of and participation in, existing meetings such as Mental Health Planning Councils, local Mental Health Associations, public policy planners and mental health authority activities within each state will help consumers strategize for rightful negotiating seats at the table.
In addition to the Leadership Academy curricula, business and management skill development training will be provided for self-help programs, along with a methodology to ensure successful follow-up.
Members of the Advisory Council will submit technical assistance information regarding managed care to CONTAC.
CONTAC will maintain a national Website that will allow space for local, state, regional or national consumer affiliates.
The WVMHCA Board of Directors, which provides direct program oversight for the CONTAC Director, is responsible for reviewing, approving, or altering as necessary the activities of CONTAC and maintains communications with the Director on a routine basis.
